Summary of our COVID Changes for the Season

As many of you are aware our season will look and feel a bit different this year than in year's past.  Here is a snapshot of our upcoming season.

We will practice in mornings of Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday beginning once the pool opens up, typically right after Mother's Day.  Each practice group will have dryland stretching and exercizes followed by 35 minutes in the water. There will be a limit of 4 swimmers per lane for social distancing.  By having fewer swimmers in the water each swimmer will have plenty of time in the water with solid coaching.

Meets will feel very different.  We are not allowing guests to swim in our pool, thus creating a "virtual meet."  Our guests will swim in their home pool and we will merge the times collected to generate a final meet score.  It is unlikely that we will swim in any other pool than our own.  In the same manner, for our away meets we collect swimmers times as close to Tuesday night as possible, then merge swimmer's times with our "host" team.

Families will not be allowed to stay on the pool deck for meets, but will be given the opportunity to see their kids swim their events then head back out to the parking lot after.  Our three homemeets will still be held on a Tuesday night, and we will still need volunteers.  Thus, the best seats in the house will be as a volunteer on a Tuesday night.  This is the same as always.

Barracudas Swim Team Registration will open on April 9, 2021

We are excited to announce that swim team registration for the 2021 summer swim season will open for everyone in our community on April 9, 2021. The registration link will go live on our website at noon (12:00pm).

It is highly recommended that you complete your online registration at 12:00 noon on April 9th for your best chances of securing a spot on the team in your swimmers age group.

Since we were unable to hold swim team activities last summer and considering the current Covid restrictions, we will open registration on a first come first served basis for all community members. This is regardless of membership on the team in previous years. Going forward into 2022, our plan is to try and honor priority registration for swimmers who completed their volunteer credits from this summer and previously in 2019.

Due to Covid restrictions, the number of swimmers permitted on our team this year will be lower than in years past. Spots will be filled as online registrations are processed. Once all the spots on the team in an age group are filled, you will receive an error message in your registration page.  You will then need to send an email to: [email protected] giving your swimmer/s name and Date of Birth.  The waiting list will be generated based on the order in which emails are received.

As always, there will be a free trial period. Practices will tentatively begin on May 12th . If your swimmer decides this is not the sport for them, you will be given a refund minus a 3% credit card processing fee or full refund for cash and/or check payment. Last day to drop off from the team with a refund will be May 19th by noon. Any additional openings will be given to wait listed swimmers at that time.

Summer 2021 Practice Days and Times:

Practices will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in the MORNINGS before the pool opens for the residents of Bella Casa.

Tentative Practice Times:

6:00 – 6:35 am 13 years old and up

6:35 – 7:10 am 11 & 12 year olds

7:10 – 7:45 am 9 & 10 year olds

7:45 – 8:20 am 7 & 8 year olds

8:20 – 8:55 am 6 & Unders

We will not have our previous “Little Fry” program this season due to Covid restrictions. We are not able to safely place Jr Coaches in the water with these novice swimmers. Therefore, all swimmers MUST be able to swim one entire pool length unaccompanied, without assistance or flotation devices.

We can’t wait to get in the water and start swimming! Go Barracudas!

Our Team

The Bella Casa Barracudas Swim Team was created in 2015 with the goal to bring the community together through a fun summer swim program. It is sanctioned by the Bella Casa Homeowners Association, and is a member of the Tarheel Swim Association Summer League. With our strong community support, it was TSA's first team ever to swim as a full fledged team in it's first season, without an exhibition year. In the first season, we were division champions.

To be eligible to swim for the Barracudas, you must be a Bella Casa homeowner in good standing with the HOA. Rising Kindergartners, which is defined by Wake County Public Schools as being 5 years old on or before August 31 of the given year, through to high school seniors or 18 years of age.

For our Kids. For our Community. Go Barracudas!
