Summary of our COVID Changes for the Season
As many of you are aware our season will look and feel a bit different this year than in year's past. Here is a snapshot of our upcoming season.
We will practice in mornings of Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday beginning once the pool opens up, typically right after Mother's Day. Each practice group will have dryland stretching and exercizes followed by 35 minutes in the water. There will be a limit of 4 swimmers per lane for social distancing. By having fewer swimmers in the water each swimmer will have plenty of time in the water with solid coaching.
Meets will feel very different. We are not allowing guests to swim in our pool, thus creating a "virtual meet." Our guests will swim in their home pool and we will merge the times collected to generate a final meet score. It is unlikely that we will swim in any other pool than our own. In the same manner, for our away meets we collect swimmers times as close to Tuesday night as possible, then merge swimmer's times with our "host" team.
Families will not be allowed to stay on the pool deck for meets, but will be given the opportunity to see their kids swim their events then head back out to the parking lot after. Our three homemeets will still be held on a Tuesday night, and we will still need volunteers. Thus, the best seats in the house will be as a volunteer on a Tuesday night. This is the same as always.
The Bella Casa Barracudas Swim Team was created in 2015 with the goal to bring the community together through a fun summer swim program. It is sanctioned by the Bella Casa Homeowners Association, and is a member of the Tarheel Swim Association Summer League. With our strong community support, it was TSA's first team ever to swim as a full fledged team in it's first season, without an exhibition year. In the first season, we were division champions.
To be eligible to swim for the Barracudas, you must be a Bella Casa homeowner in good standing with the HOA. Rising Kindergartners, which is defined by Wake County Public Schools as being 5 years old on or before August 31 of the given year, through to high school seniors or 18 years of age.
For our Kids. For our Community. Go Barracudas!
