COVID 19 Protocol - Updated 5/5/21

We have updated our COVID-19 Protocols based on the latest guidence from NCDHS.

Practice

  • There will be no screening before entering the pool but please do not attend practice or a meet if you have any of these in the past 48 hours:
    • Fever or chills
    • Shortness of breath/ difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • If the swimmer has had close contact with someone who has tested positive
    • If the swimmer awaiting a COVID-19 test
    • Sore throat, congestion and/or runny nose if not related to allergies
  • Swimmers can (but not required) wear masks entering the pool deck and exiting the pool deck, but they are required for using the rest rooms.
  • We will limit the number of swimmers at each end of the pool.

Swim Meets

  • All meets will be virtual, so only Bella Casa swimmers will be at the pool
  • Home meets will be Tuesday nights at 6 pm, we will have an age group schedule before the first meet.
  • Away meets will be time trails during Sunday practice.   For those wishing to compete but will not be available Sunday, please talk to your coach.
  • We will swim each age group one at a time
  • Each event will have a start end and an exit end of the pool so swimmers will be getting out of the pool the opposite end of where the next group will start.
    • For 25s this is easy since each swimmer will swim one length of the pool
    • For 50s the swimmer will race 2 lengths and then swim an easy 3rd length so they exit the pool at the opposite end.
  • Masks can be worn at all times except while swimming. We will have a way to get the masks to the other end of the pool so swimmers can put them on when they get out.

    3. Have no symptoms for the last 24 hours.
    4. Receive medical clearance to return to the pool from a licensed medical provider.
  2. A swimmer who believes that they have symptoms related to COVID-19 must do all of the following:

  3. A swimmer who has close contact (less than 6 feet away for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24 hour period) with:
    1. A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 who has symptoms (and swimmer’s contact with that person was within the period 2 days before that person developed symptoms and through the end of that person’s self-quarantine) or
    2. A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 but who has no symptoms (and swimmer’s contact with that person was within the period 2 days before that person’s test and through the end of that person’s self-quarantine)

Must do all of the following:

  • 1.Self-isolate and self-quarantine for 14 days after last exposure to that person.
  • 2.Notify the Head Coach by email to [email protected] so that contact tracing can begin.

The requirement to self-isolate and self-quarantine assumes that the person has no “close contact” with friends, swimmers, family members, and others.
