Hi Barracuda families. We are proud to be able to continue our special swim team tradition of giving back to a special, local organization in need this season!  We will support a different need at each of our home meets.

Our first home meet is June 15 and we would like to offer support for one of our own Bella Casa families, the Van Almen family (see attachment). You might have heard of 10 year old Vince, or seen some of your neighbors sign's displayed in yards around BC (#InVINCEable).  Vince was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on December 31, 2020. He is currently undergoing intense treatment at UNC Children's. This will be a long road, but Vince is a remarkable young man and a fighter. His family would appreciate some help in the form of gift cards. 

Although we are unable to accept monetary donations at our meet, we will have a donation table set up to receive any gift cards for this family. Although they would appreciate anything at this time, specifically Door Dash gift cards would be a true help to them. They also grocery shop through Shipt and any visa gift card could be applied towards their grocery bills. If you are able, please bring a gift card to our first home meet to donate to this family, or email me to make arrangements if you cannot attend. Feel free to pool your resources with other friends and neighbors as well!

Personally, I feel so honored to be able to help another family going through a pediatric cancer diagnosis in this small way. For all of you who know our family's story--our youngest Barracuda, Charlotte, is BACK on the swim team this year in the 7/8's after her second battle with cancer (Stage IV Neuroblastoma)! Our BC Barracudas and amazing neighborhood rallied around her and our family during our own unimaginable time, and I thank you all for helping to make a difference for the Van Almen family in their time of need.
