Hi Barracudas,

What a successful meet last night.   Great job by all our swimmers.  Thank you to all the volunteers that help make the meet happen last night.   Results should be posted late tonight after practice on the team site.  

Relays

We had a situation where several relays could not swim due to swimmers being late to the meet, or leaving the meet early.   We have five different options for selecting attendance for the meet, "Not Attending", "Attending", "Attending, no early relays", "Attending, no late relays", "Attending, no relays". I know it's very easy to select "Attending" but if you do not plan on staying until the end, or know that you will be late, please try to select the correct option. We try and get every swimmer that wants to be in a relay, in a relay since they all enjoy it and it gives swimmers a chance to be in a main event. 

Meet at home vs. Wood Creek

Sign ups for next Tuesday's meet vs. Wood Creek are now open.  First I want to note that several year around schools will be having EOG / EOC exams next week. Please keep this in mind as most of our meets will run to 10:00 pm at night.   If you do not want your child out that late, please do not sign them up for Butterfly and change your setting to "Attending, no late relays".   

Additionally, if you have already signed up for the meet, please double check your entries.  At one point the meet was limited to 3 individual events (2 for 6 & under) but I have now changed it to 4 (3 for 6 & under).   If you wish to have your child swim all events, please go in and make the change.   This is true for the next three meets (all at home). The last two meets are still restricted as we confirm if our opponent has lights or not.

This week's practices

Tonight and Tomorrow morning we will focus on freestyle for all age groups and turns for those that have to swim 50s.  Thursday night / Friday morning we will be focusing on Backstroke and Backstroke finishes.   Saturday's focus will be on Breaststroke.   And next Monday we will be doing Butterfly and dives.  

Ducks 
We have had a tradition of giving out Ducks to the heat winners at our home meets and the coaches have also given out Ducks at both home and away meets to swims they feel are special or noteworthy.  After three years of this I've hoped that everyone has at least gotten one duck along the way, but I've been told some have not.   If your child has not received a Duck yet in their swimming with Bella Casa, please send me a quick email ([email protected]).  If you are new this year, I already have you on a list, so there is no need to send me an email.  

Now, due to changes in rules at the league level we are supposed to only give out heat winner ribbons.  At next week's home meet we will be handing out heat winner ribbons just like last night, but we will also have duck table where they can swap the heat winner ribbon for a duck.  Please let your swimmer know about this exchange if they win their heat the next few weeks.
